Shawn Leight

Shawn is a national leader in developing transportation solutions that support community values.  Shawn works to improve communities by forging relationships and advancing forward thinking solutions. Shawn is the vice president and a principal owner of CBB Transportation Engineers + Planners, where he manages day to day project delivery and business development efforts. 


Shawn has played a key role in innovative projects such as the reconstruction of I-64 in St. Louis, Missouri (AASHTO’s 2010 America’s Best  Transportation Project).  He has been an adjunct professor of transportation engineering at Washington University in St. Louis since 2003, where many of his 250+ students are now leaders in the transportation profession. 


Shawn is heavily involved in professional organizations that support the transportation engineering industry.  He has previously served as the President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Missouri Valley Section of ITE (MOVITE), and Transportation Engineering Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (TEAM StL).  Shawn is a recipient of the 2016 Midwest ITE Transportation Professional of the Year Award, 2016 MOVITE Melvin B. Meyer Transportation Professional of the Year Award, and 2015 TEAM StL Professional Achievement Award.  


Shawn is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states throughout the Midwest and is a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and Professional Transportation Planner (PTP). Shawn obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
